Summary: I made reservations for two rooms at the Comfort Inn & Suites near Route 66, so that my family and I could go to the IL State Fair. We returned to the hotel property at approximately 11:30 p.m. While prepping for bed, my son and his girlfriend found a crazy ant situation. Specifically, there was an infestation of ants on the tile flooring, crawling up his legs and across the wall behind the beds. My son and I returned to the front desk and explained the ant situation to the front desk clerk. While she appeared overwhelmed, she readily reassigned the occupants of one of our rooms to a 2nd floor room - where we found the door propped open but no obvious occupants. Then my son found ants in the bedding of the new room. After my son relocated to the 2nd floor, my daughter and I inspected our room and found ants in and on the furniture. At this point my family was upset with the infestation and not interested in staying at these facilities. We returned to the front desk, where we explained that we found the bug situation unacceptable and checked out - requesting the manager’s name and hotel contact information. We left the hotel at 12:34 a.m. to make the 3 hour drive home, an inconvenience we had hoped to avoid by staying in the Springfield area. The manager refused a refund because we had messier 3 rooms that she couldn’t resale. They couldn’t be resold because of BUGS.
