Secluded and comfortable three bedroom home located on the famous French Creek known as the "Jewel of the Black Hills". The house is vintage 1970's architecture and filled with character. There is an outdoor shower, as well as an outdoor cooktop and grill and a firepit. French Creek runs along the length of the property - on sunny days there are two large turtles that love to sunbathe on the tree over the creek. Deer and wild turkeys are often grazing in the yard. The five acre property shares a boundary with the Black Hills National Forest. Custer State Park and Blue Bell Lodge are a five minute drive away. The City of Custer is only a ten minute drive (eight miles) and offers unique shopping and dining. The house is conveniently located within 30 minutes of Mount Rushmore, Wind Cave National Park, Sylvan Lake, Jewel Cave, Black Elk Peak, Needles Highway, the Mickelson Trail and all the sites, activities and beautiful scenery the Hills have to offer. Summary: This is a lovely house on a large lot off a well maintained dirt road with a creek behind it. Upon entering is a living area to the left and the kitchen/dining area behind. A few steps down is a game room and one bedroom with a bath outside the bedroom (it has the only shower in the house). Up 6 or so steps from the main floor are 2 bedrooms – one to either side with a shared bathroom (tub only) between them. Greeting us in the kitchen was a nice basket of goodies – a bottle of wine, popcorn, and other snacks that were great to take on our hikes. It is VERY quiet here! Lots of land, with a mountain behind the house. We saw deer in the evenings. What a great place to come back to after a day of hiking and busyness. The owners were very communicative.
